City Place House

The City Place House scheme is a comprehensive redevelopment project which will transform the existing building into a new commercial office located at 2 Aldermanbury Square. This will provide brand new high-quality workspace and includes a varied retail offering at ground level which will be surrounded by revitalised public realm.

Our aim is to keep you, the local community, informed of forthcoming activities and progress through regular updates on construction.

The Development

The development will transform the existing site and provide the local residential, business and wider city community with an improved and active ground floor and public realm experience. Central to this will be a new north-south pedestrian route between London Wall and Basinghall Street. This will include landscaped public realm, increased greening and a number of retail outlets.

Other key public realm improvements will be an enhanced city walkway which will include a green garden space for workers, residents and visitors to explore and enjoy.

Sustainability

High-quality flexible space is at the heart of the design but importantly it also has a range of sustainability objectives and will be a net zero carbon building.

The project will also have a positive impact on the local area and improve accessibility to the western entrance to the Elizabeth Line’s Liverpool Street station.

Team

Lendlease have been appointed by GPE to undertake the main shell and core construction works, which started in April 2023 and are due to complete in early 2026.

Planning permission for the redevelopment of City Place House was granted in July 2021.
